The ultimate flu vaccine

marriage Oct 24, 2018

It’s that time of the year pod cast listeners; cold and flue season is back with a vengeance and many are trying anything and everything to ease their aches and pains. From essential oils to detox diets, people are trying some crazy things to quickly rid themselves of their symptoms. On today’s show, we will discuss one method that may cause you to look at the people you live with a little differently.

And lastly, at the end of the show for our Totally Unrelated Distraction of the Day, two people break into a home in Canada. I’m going to give Amy the rest of this story at the end of the show today and I’m betting that she will totally support this home invasion…Canadian style.

The time Amy accidentally almost killed me! The story of the flu or not the flu!

  • Stay healthy this flu season
    • Lydia Denworth, "A 2010 meta-analysis, which combined data from many previous studies covering more than 300,000 people, showed that people with strong relationships are 50 percent more likely to live longer."
  • Uchino’s work has found that relationships—good, bad and ambivalent—are linked to blood pressure, corona artery calcification, levels of cellular aging, and levels of inflammation. Others have shown that strong social Network protect against cognitive decline and dementia.
  • When you're lonely, you are experiencing:
    • Feelings of hostility, stress, pessimism, anxiety, and low self-esteem
    • Bad overall health
  • How do you overcome loneliness?
    • Be intentional with social skills
    • Kindness, interest in others, empathy, etc
    • Create your community for support
  • Who has your back?
    • Put yourself out there, if you don't you can't meet people
  • And whatever you do, don't:
    • blow everything out of proportion
    • be dependent, in other words, be an individual who is ok without the other person. You are good enough, smart enough, and dagonnit people like you!
    • be an avoider

It is time, my dear listeners, to realize that relationships are valuable in more ways than one. Good relationships can help you live longer, decrease your blood pressure, and increase your overall feelings of satisfaction. By not actively developing meaningful relationships you are missing out on all these benefits. Lasting relationships don’t just happen on their own. They take work. If you are feeling like you need to be more active in your relationships, take the time today to write down five people you feel you need to be more intentional with and reach out to them! Offer to take them for a coffee or take five minutes to genuinely ask about their day. Remember, if they don’t have time for coffee that week or feel disinterested when you try and talk to them DON’T WORRY. People like you for who you are and if other’s don’t make time for you that’s not your problem.

A Completely Unrelated Distraction of The Day:

And now my podcast listening friends, for the one segment that is completely unrelated to anything on this show and is probably the only reason you listen, it’s time for the Distraction of the Day.

The homeowner, who was out, called cops around 3pm local time last Tuesday after being alerted by a neighbour who saw the pair wandering the property wielding a vacuum cleaner and mop.

Cops called after pair enter Canadian home and give it a good clean!

"Although the house was cleaned for free, [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] would like to take this opportunity to remind homeowners to ensure their doors are locked at all times," the Mounties said in a statement praising neighbours for being observant and contacting the homeowner.”
